Jan 1, 2021 · Confirmed. It is a 2001 ranger 4Xarb42A01D625868. Build date 8/18/2001. But it is a Series 10 (not listed as a Ranger, but under Ranger) A10RB42AA - I found a parts list for it and the service manual number is 9916586 (same manual for a 00, 01, 02 and 03 Diesel), but I do not have that manual. No spark pulls code 636 -crank position sensor or CPS abbreviated. Issue: Shorted out or broken wire on the back main harness the CPS (crank position sensor) plugs into. Located under the airbox tube and intake manifold tube, this is a branch off the main wiring harness that the CPS plugs into. Solution: Solder and re-insulate the broken wire.Here is the information and what I have tried: - NO SPARK -. - Gauges and all other electrical items (lights, etc.) work. - The crank position sensor has been checked at swapped. Both test at 1017 ohms. (proper number is 1000 ohms +/- 10%) - The coil measures at 2.2 ohms on each part of the primary side (1-2 and 2-3). Book says 0.4 ohms.If no spark , try another plug. If you still have no spark; test your ignition coil. If the coil checks ok , look at the stator ( usually you don't have to go this far ) ... Did something happen to possibly cause this issue, referring to you riding conditions and use of the Ranger. Give us a little more information.

I would give it a little gas and it would start back up most times. But some times I would have to let it sit for a few minutes and then it would start. If the spark is weak, the spark inside the tool will appear yellow-red and have a more inconsistent spark pattern. Now that you have verified that there is no spark, it’s time to begin troubleshooting. 2. Make Sure the Kill Switch Is On. The ATV will not create a spark when the kill switch is off. Ohms is one thing - voltage is another, but if the charge coil is damaged and shorted to ground, you will get at best a weak spark but most usually no spark. Identify the system you have, check the ohms and based on the results I'll advise you on the peak output voltages. I know it's harder to get to on the 570, but with my machine it's less than 5 minutes to get it up and running if it's the plug.
